Frequently Asked Questions

Where do we snorkel?+
We snorkel at secret sites along the San José del Cabo coastline that we've mapped over years of running expeditions in the Sea of Cortez. Sites are chosen each morning based on water clarity, current, and wildlife activity, never the same itinerary twice. The Sea of Cortez was called "the world's aquarium" by Jacques Cousteau and is one of the most biodiverse marine ecosystems on Earth.
What will I see while snorkeling?+
Vibrant tropical fish (parrotfish, angelfish, sergeant majors, butterflyfish), coral and rock formations, occasional sea turtles, rays, eels, octopus, and small reef sharks. The reef ecosystem is rich and active year-round. Sightings vary by site and conditions but every expedition delivers a full reef experience.
Is snorkeling safe for kids and beginners?+
Yes. The snorkeling tour is family-friendly. Kids 6 and up are welcome with a parent. We have flotation devices for nervous swimmers and our guides stay in the water teaching technique. If it's your first time snorkeling, this is the right tour to start with before doing Ocean Safari or Shark Safari.
What equipment is provided?+
Mask, snorkel, fins, and wetsuit (winter months). Premium equipment, sanitized between guests. We have all sizes including kids. If you prefer to bring your own gear, you're welcome to.
How long is the snorkeling tour?+
Half-day expedition, roughly 4 hours total. Morning departures from Puerto Los Cabos Marina in San José del Cabo. We typically visit two snorkel sites with 30 to 45 minutes in the water at each, depending on group comfort and conditions.
How many guests on the boat?+
Maximum 8 guests per snorkeling expedition. We keep groups small so guides can give individual attention and so the reef doesn't get crowded. Private bookings available for families and small groups who want flexibility on schedule and sites.
Can we see whales or dolphins on the snorkeling tour?+
Occasionally yes during boat transit between snorkel sites, especially humpback whales from December to April and dolphins year-round. The snorkeling tour focuses on reef ecosystems, not pelagic megafauna, so wildlife encounters are a bonus and not the primary product. For whales and dolphins, choose the Whale Watching Tour or Ocean Safari.
What's included?+
Snorkel equipment, wetsuit, marina and park fees, biologist guide, water, snacks, fruit, and underwater photography from our team. Not included: hotel transfers, gratuities, travel insurance.
